Guys, I am so excited about my Essential Oils starter kit. I’m still in the very early stages, and have very little idea about what I’m doing, but I thought I would share how things are going so far and what I have used some of the oils for. I think I’m going to make this into a weekly post — or maybe every other week. Still trying to figure things out. Anyway, my plan is to share my Essential Oils experiences with you.
Getting started can be very overwhelming. There are SO many different oils, with SO many different uses. I have been considering using Essential Oils for a long time, but had no clue where to start, so I just didn’t. After Ashley’s post last week, I realized that the perfect place to start was with the starter kit. That would give me enough oils to make some of the super fun Pinterest recipes I’ve been seeing.
Once I got my starter kit in the mail, Ashley sent me a 10 Day Starter Kit Challenge, which gave me tons of ideas for how to use my new oils.
Seasonal Allergy Recipe – Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint oil. This is probably the one we use the most. Chris and I keep a roller of this by our bed. We put it on our temples and across the bridge of our noses every night before bed. It helps open up our sinuses and calm us for sleep. Chris also puts it on before he gets in the shower in the morning. The combination of the oils and the steam really opens up his sinuses and helps him get his day started.
Peppermint – When I was pregnant, I used a roller of peppermint for everything. To calm upset stomach and indigestion, to ease a headache, to clear my sinuses. It was a lifesaver for me. Now that I have the kit, I am going to try to add in Digize for tummy troubles.
Panaway – I have just started trying out Panaway for sore muscles and joints. I have read that Copaiba helps to amplify the effects of other oils, so I add that too.
Calming – I have really been enjoying diffusing Lavender and Stress Away at bedtime. It smells so good and really gets me in the mood for sleeping.
Odor Control – Diffusing Purification in the kitchen and the bathroom can help neutralize odors. You can also put a few drops in the trash can, disposal, or toilet (before use). Totally helps your house smell good when you haven’t had the chance to do a deep cleaning!
Wellness – Ok, I’m really falling in love with this one. Every evening, when I sit down to watch TV, I have been diffusing Thieves and RC. Thieves promotes a healthy immune system and freshens stale air; and RC promotes feelings of comfort. I love this combo for creating a super cozy feeling in my living room.
Teething – I have used two of Ashley’s tips with Beckett. The Copaiba for teething and the Lavender in a roller bottle along his jaw line. I can definitely tell a difference when I use these. In fact, Beckett smiles and laughs when he sees me opening the Copaiba bottle. He will literally stop mid-blood curdling scream, give me a big grin, and do his excited laugh. Yep. It’s definitely working for us.
